Over 95% of Black British Adults don’t know how to swim (The Independent, May 2023). One woman, Rochelle, alongside her two family members, Auntie Maxine and Sophie, take on a risky challenge of learning how to swim within 30 days for an upcoming family holiday. They embark upon a poetic journey of self actualisation challenging stereotypes and barriers, whilst facing their own fears, doubts and array of emotions. The question is, when life gets in the way, will they be able to swim the distance?
